KUANTAN, Apr 27 – A total of 15,000 additional election workers comprising members of the public will be on duty on May 9 to assist in ensuring a smooth running of the 14th General Election (GE14) in the state.
Pahang Election Commission (EC) director Datuk Zamree Hamli said the workers would be placed at 14 polling centres statewide and would be assisted by 37 permanent staff members of the EC.
“We will also work with the police to ensure that no problems will arise during the polling day,” he told reporters after officiating the Pahang GE14 Media Centre at Wisma Persekutuan here today which was also attended by state Information Department acting director Mohmed Lokman Mahmud.
Meanwhile, Zamree said the media centre which was established through an inaugural collaboration with the state Information Department would serve as a place that would provide fast and accurate information about GE14.
