KUALA LUMPUR, May 9 – Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak has slammed the spam phone calls from international numbers received by many Barisan Nasional (BN) leaders today. The Prime Minister, who is also BN chairman, also ordered an immediate action into the matter.
“I strongly condemn the spam calls tactic from international numbers received by many BN leaders. The mobile phones that were under attack were unable to function as usual. Besides that, many BN websites could not be accessed. I have instructed for immediate action to be taken,” he tweeted.
Several BN leaders who were affected also tweeted about receiving spam calls from unknown numbers. BN candidate for the Sepanggar parliamentary seat Datuk Seri Abdul Rahman Dahlan via his twitter @mpkotabelud said: BN leaders’ handphones have been under technical attack since morning.
Calls from overseas keep coming in every few seconds! To prevent us from communicating with our machinery. This is dirty trick!. Datuk Seri Hishammuddin Tun Hussein who is contesting the Sembrong parliamentary seat tweeted:
“Just finished voting and realised all these missed calls from unknown numbers. Strange. I still receive strange phone calls from overseas, especially from the US. It is learnt that many have received spam missed calls this morning,” said Datuk Seri Azalina Othman Said via her Twitter account.
BN candidate for the Besut parliamentary seat Datuk Seri Idris Jusoh was also affected by the spam phone calls this morning.
