MARANG, May 10 – The swearing-in of Terengganu’s new PAS mentri besar and state exco is scheduled to take place tonight at Istana Syarqiyyah, Kuala Terengganu, before Sultan Mizan Zainal Abidin.
“We will announce the mentri besar and 10 state executive councillors on Friday after receiving the consent of the Sultan. So it is better for us not to speculate on the mentri besar’s post until then,” said state PAS Commissioner Datuk Husein Awang at a special press conference here today.
He said the PAS state government’s executive council line-up was expected to commence official duties on Monday. “We will enter Wisma Darul Iman (state administrative centre) at 9am on Monday and carry out the handing over ceremony for the mentri besar’s post from former Mentri Besar (Datuk Seri Ahmad Razif Abdul Rahman),” he said.
In line with the announcement of a public holiday by the Federal government, Husein said the new state government announced Sunday (May 12) a public holiday for Terengganu. In the 14th General Election, PAS managed to win 21 of the 32 state seats, enough for a simple majority for the party to form a government. — Bernama
