Anwar: No Rush For Me To Return To Politics



KUALA LUMPUR, May 16 – PKR de facto leader Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim, who has just been released on a royal pardon earlier today, said that he would not make an immediate return to politics.

Speaking at his first press conference at his residence in Segambut, here, Anwar said he had expressed his full support to the current premier Dr Mahathir’s and his deputy Datuk Seri Dr Wan Azizah Wan Ismail, who is also his wife, deliver the agenda and implement necessary reforms effectively.

Anwar was earlier today given a full pardon by the Yang Pertuan Agong Sultan Muhammad V, following a meeting and on the advice of the Federal Territories Pardons Board. He had been serving a prison sentence since Feb 10, 2015, after he was adjudged to have been guilty of sodomy. He was originally scheduled for release on June 8. — PN
