PETALING JAYA, May 22 – Police have arrested Jamal Yunos, UMNO Sungai Besar division chief, this afternoon. Selangor police chief Mazlan Mansor said police are investigating him under the Arms Act 1960 for a case which was reported on May 12, 2018.
He said Jamal was arrested at 1.15pm at the Ampang Puteri Specialist Hospital, while undergoing treatment and is under police custody.
He said there are several others cases for which the suspect is being investigated. He also added that two arrest warrants would be served on Jamal as soon as he is discharged from the hospital.
Police said they arrested him following a report lodged on May 12, after a picture of Jamal brandishing a weapon went viral.
Jamal, who also leads a pro-Malay group called the “Red Shirts”, was previously demonstrated in a pro-government counter rally against the anti-corruption rally, Bersih 2.0 as well as by Pakatan Harapan supporters.
