TELUK KUMBAR, May 24 – As part of its Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) program, in conjunction with the holy month celebration of the Ramadan season, Lexis Suites Penang treated 25 underprivileged orphanages from Pertubuhan Kebajikan Anak Kesayangan Pulau Pinang to an ‘Iftar’ feast.
The orphanage’s age range from 2 years to 18 years old. Pertubuhan Kebajikan Anak Kesayangan Pulau Pinang located in No. 55, Lebuh Bukit Jambul, Bukit Jambul, 11920 Bayan Lepas, Penang opened its door in October 2008.
Founded by Mr. Mohamad Dalep, it has since then become a foster home for the underprivileged orphanages who are either poor, abandoned by their parents and their parents who are unable to financially support their children’s welfare.
The charity event started off by welcoming the fellow children and guardians at the hotel lobby by General Manager, Mr. Ben Ho, YB Azrul Mahathir, ADUN Kawasan Bayan Lepas and fellow heads of department.
The children were given a love balloon each before all of them were then ushered to the Hibiscus Grand Ballroom to kick start the event. The children, guardians also performed the customary Maghrib prayers together withthe Muslim hotel’s heads of department before breaking fast.
They were then feasted to a sumptuous Ramadan dome and semi buffet feast, specially crafted by our Executive Chef, Chef Johnno and his culinary team. The menu includes Kampung Melayu Lambuk, Sotong Masak Lemak, Daging Rendang Tok, Lemang Pulut Putih with Serunding Ayam and classic Malay snacks and desserts such as Rojak. Keropok Lekor, Pisang Goreng, Satay and Ais Kacang.
To add to the excitement, our Sport & Recreation team orchestrated fun games and activities with the children. They also performed several Nasyid sing-along songs and it added a soothing touch to the event.
Mr. Ben Ho, General Manager said that ‘It is indeed a blessing to be able to see all of their happy faces, enjoying their time very much here’. As the hotel team gears up to spread cheers to the less fortunate ones, we continue to do what we do best, by helping them in fulfilling their needs for the greater good as a whole.
As a courtesy gesture, Mr. Ben Ho & YB Azrul presented a mock cheque of cash donation RM4,080 to Mr. Mohamad Dalep, the owner of Pertubuhan Kebajikan Anak Kesayangan Pulau Pinang. They also presented hampers of daily groceries such as flour, milo, milk powder, maggi, bihun, oyster sauce and assorted Ramadan Cookies to the guardians.
Besides that, each child also received goodies bag of stationaries sets such as mechanical pencils, coloured pens and ballpoint pens from the management. The program ended with a group photography session of all that were involved.
