KUALA TERENGGANU, Jun 21 – The Terengganu Domestic Trade, Cooperatives and Consumerism Ministry (KPDNKK) detected 22 offences committed under the Festive Season Price Control Scheme operations carried out during the recent Hari Raya Puasa for 15 days from June 8.
Its director Shaharuddin Mohd Kia said this included 16 offences of not displaying the pink special price tags, two cases of not displaying price tags, and four for selling chicken at prices exceeding the fixed rate.
However, he said, the number of cases this year dropped from those detected during the same operations last year (59 cases) due to several factors such as increased awareness among consumers and traders, as well as continuing enforcement by the KPDNKK.
“Starting from June 8, our officers and staff conducted checks on 1,138 business premises in the country, including wholesale and retail outlets. We also issued compounds amounting to RM3,600 to 22 traders for these offences,” he said after a check carried out at Pasar Payang today.
