10 Negri Sembilan Branch Leaders, NGOs Quit Umno

SEREMBAN, Jun 24 – Ten Rembau and Rasah Umno branch leaders and former branch leaders quit the party today and pledged support for the government under the Pakatan Harapan (PH) leadership.

They were joined by 10 leaders from non-governmental organisations (NGO) which included Gerakan Memartabatkan Pejuang Negara (GMPN), Pertubuhan Perjuangan Rakyat Malaysia (PPRM), Pertubuhan Permuafakatan Minda Sosial (PPMS) and Persatuan Foodtruck Batu 4 Port Dickson.

Major (Rtd) Razali Zakaria, who was previously the Tasik Jaya Bandar Umno branch leader for the Rembau division, said in a memorandum for submission to Prime Minister Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad that they officially announced their exit from Umno and outlined their overall support for PH at the state and federal government level.

“We also pledge to comply with directives and regulations set by the PH leadership and as pro-government NGOs, we will act as the eyes and ears of the people, providing assistance and upholding policies outlined by the government,” Razali, who is also chairman of Gabungan NGO Sahabat, told reporters here.

Among other branch leaders involved in the mass exit from Umno were Dataran Senawang branch leader Ramli Hamid, Ismail Ibrahim (Taman Maridah), Abu Hasman Yacop (Desa Tasik Jaya) and Muhammad Nizam (Kampung Sentosa). Razali said the movement of NGOs, together with the PH government would further strengthen the government. — Bernama
