JERANTUT, Jul 29 – The appointment of Tan Sri Megat Zaharuddin Megat Mohd Nor as the new Federal Land Development Authority (Felda) chairman is expected to solve problems related to the settlers’ monthly living allowance and income.

Pahang Felda Affairs, Cooperatives, Entrepreneur and Consumer Affairs Committee chairman Datuk Nazri Ngah said the appointment would allow Felda to hold a meeting to liquidate the funds that required the approval of its board of directors.

“We also hope that the Pakatan Harapan government will consider the well-being of the settlers and draw the policies that do not burden the people, as well as to strengthen diplomatic ties with China,” he told reporters here yesterday.

Yesterday, the media reported the appointment of Megat Zaharuddin as new Felda chairman replacing Tan Sri Shahrir Abdul Samad who resigned on May 14.

Meanwhile, Paya Besar MP Mohd Shahar Abdullah also called on the government and the management of Felda to implement immediate plans to help solve the settlers’ problems after listening to the complaints from settlers in 16 Felda settlements in Paya Besar parliamentary constituency. — Bernama
