KUALA LUMPUR, Jul 30 – The Companies Commission of Malaysia (SSM) has cautioned the public to be wary of dubious calls or scams using its name for fraudulent purposes.
SSM said a complainant has received a fake call from a person impersonating as an SSM officer. The so-called officer claimed that the complainant owns a company involved in a court case and asked for money from him in order to settle the case.
However, the complainant, who is suspicious of the call, immediately referred the matter to SSM and found that the company does not exist, it said in a statement today.
SSM said the public could refer such matter to any SSM office nearby or file a complaint online to SSM’s official website at ssm.com.my or call SSM hotline at 03-2299 4400. — Bernama
