SHAH ALAM, Aug 5 – Newly elected Sungai Kandis State Assemblyman, Mohd Zawawi Ahmad Mughni again gave his assurance that all general election pledges to help the people in the constituency will be implemented as soon as possible.
Mohd Zawawi, who won the by-election for the Sungai Kandis state seat with a majority of 5,842 votes beating his two challengers today, said his main commitment was to emphasise on the development of infrastructure and facilities.
“With this mandate, I will assist the constituents in Sungai Kandis to upgrade the infrastructure and implement all the programs which the late Mat Shuhaimi Shafie (former Assemblyman) did not have time to implement.
“Issues on the development of infrastructure involving roads and drainage formed the most number of complaints I received throughout my campaign and I will bring up these problems to the respective parties as soon as possible,” he told a media conference here.
The principal of Maahad Tahfiz Al-Fateh Jalan Kebun also expressed his gratitude and thanks to the PKR and Pakatan Harapan leadership on the trust placed on him besides the assistance in the campaign by the party machinery.
Mohd Zawawi retained the Sungai Kandis state seat for Pakatan Harapan (PH) when he polled 15,427 votes to beat BN candidate, Datuk Lokman Noor Adam who received 9,585 votes while Independent candidate K.Murthy only obtained 97 votes.
The Sungai Kandis sate seat fell vacant following the death of Mat Shuhaimi who was also the former political secretary to former Selangor Mentri Besar Datuk Seri Mohamed Azmin Ali, due to lymphoma cancer on July 2. — Bernama
