Anwar New PKR President, Takes Office In November

PETALING JAYA, Aug 9 – Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim is officially the new president of Parti Keadilan Rakyat (PKR), having won the post unopposed, it was announced here today.

However, Anwar will only assume that role after the PKR national congress scheduled for Nov 16 and 17, said PKR elections committee chairman Datuk Rashid Din at a press conference.

“Until then, Datuk Seri Dr Wan Azizah Wan Ismail will be the party president,” he said.

Rashid also said that objections and appeals over the nomination of candidates for the PKR 2018 elections could be made beginning today, except for Selangor.

The nomination of candidates for posts in Selangor has been set for Aug 12 because of the Sungai Kandis state by-election that was held on Aug 4. — Bernama
