KUALA LUMPUR, Aug 10 – Parts of Jalan Sultan Ismail and Jalan Barat around the Imbi area will be experiencing traffic disruption from Aug 11 following the infrastructure works for the Tun Razak Exchange (TRX).
TRX City Sdn Bhd’s senior vice-president (Stakeholder management), Mohamed Razib Ahmad Din said the affected routes include exits from Jalan Sultan Ismail towards the Kampung Pandan roundabout and Jalan Tun Razak (northbound) and parts of Jalan Barat (two lanes).
“The closure of some routes in Jalan Sultan Ismail will be implemented continuously, 24 hours a day for about 14 months starting from Aug 11, 2018 until Oct 31, 2019.
“While the partial closure of Jalan Barat will be implemented in stages, 24 hours a day for about three months from Aug 11 to Nov 18, this year,” he told the media during a special briefing session at TRX Gallery here yesterday.
Following the closure of Jalan Sultan Ismail, motorists heading to the Syarikat Mengurus Air Banjir & Terowong Sdn Bhd (SMART Co.) office via Jalan Sultan Ismail need to use a special route which has a height limit of 2.0 metres. Meanwhile, the entrance to the SMART tunnel can be accessed via Jalan Sultan Ismail and will be open as usual.
He said several mitigation measures would be taken including widening part of the road to enable a U turn, placing traffic policemen along the road involved and disseminating updated information through the Waze app and Itis electronic billboards. — Bernama
