KUALA LUMPUR, Aug 18 – Former Youth and Sports Minister Khairy Jamaluddin today said that the truth about 1Malaysia Development Berhad (1MDB) scandal must be told to the people and that he fully agreed that the case is reopened for investigation by the Auditor-General and the Public Accounts Committee (PAC).
He said not only the people wanted to know the true story about the financial scandal, the Barisan Nasional (BN) and Umno also wanted to ensure that the case would be completely solved.
“Umno and BN do not wish to carry a live monitor lizard on our shoulders anymore … this 1MDB case must be solved. We want the truth and the true story about 1MDB to be told.
“As a member of the previous Cabinet, I was left in the dark about certain matters and sometimes, some things were also excluded from our (Cabinet’s) knowledge,” he told reporters here today.
Yesterday, the Dewan Rakyat passed a motion for the Auditor-General and the PAC to reopen investigation on the embezzlement of monies and the scandal with regard to 1MDB and its related companies. — Bernama
