Malaysia’s First IKEA Bakery

BATU KAWAN, 6 November 2019 – IKEA Batu Kawan, the fourth IKEA store in Malaysia serving Penang and Northern Malaysia, is home to the country’s first IKEA Bakery. Featuring a wide variety of pastries and breads, all products are baked fresh from scratch to satisfy the cravings of customers to the IKEA Store in Batu Kawan.

Customers can enjoy a wide selection of baked goods, including Swedish specialty – the Cinnamon buns, classic baked like baguettes, sourdough bread, cranberry pecan bread, multi grain roll and Kaiser poppy seed roll, local fusion flavours such as the banana gula melaka danish and novelty pastries such as the chocolate croissant and raisin cream cheese comb.  

“Like the home furnishings that we offer, the IKEA Bakery caters to the wide variety of tastes of the many people with affordable baked options that complement the food sold at the IKEA Restaurant and Bistro. With the first IKEA Bakery in Malaysia, our customers can complete their shopping journey at IKEA by picking up their favourite type of bread to whip up a meal or a snack to enjoy while at home or on-the-go,” said Pathmalingam Arumugam, Store Manager of IKEA Batu Kawan.

“At IKEA, our purpose is to create a better everyday life for the many, and this includes all aspects of life – from home furnishing, to food that is tasty and good for you. With the IKEA Bakery, customers can not only get inspirations and ideas for a better life at home, but also healthy food and snacks to get them through the day,” he continued.

The breads and pastries on offer at the IKEA Bakery are baked fresh every hour to ensure freshness and taste. As much an average of 200 baked items on weekdays and 500 pastries on weekends. The bakery is open from 10.00am to 10.00pm from Monday to Sunday.  

The delights available at the IKEA Bakery compliments the impressive list of delicious food served at IKEA Batu Kawan; firm favourites like Swedish meatballs, curry puffs, hot dogs and soy ice cream. The IKEA Restaurant also features a variety of food offers such as FIKA (Swedish for “coffee and cake break”) sets and a 20% discount on 8pcs of meatballs every Wednesday.
