NETiGEN is a social media campaign organised by final year students of Persuasive Communication from the School of Communication Universiti Sains Malaysia. The main objective of the campaign is to help educate and promote healthy usage of social media to the public. Issues addressed in the campaign are all social media related issues such as self-validation, sharenting, cyberbully and cyber security.

The soft launch of the campaign was held on 14th October within the main campus of Universiti Sains Malaysia, Penang. Activities and exhibition on issues of self-validation, sharenting, cyberbully and cyber security were displayed and explained to visitors in order to increase their level of awareness about the issues. NETiGEN also utilises its existence through the official social media platform to get more attention.

NETiGEN still has more to offer the community of USM and also the public through a series of events such as conducting a roadshow at the Occupy Beach Street on 10th November. Moreover, a  forum session, Cyber Security Clinic, will be held on 11th  November at SK1 Lecture Hall ,USM  to discuss the importance of staying safe online. The invited speakers are Assistant Director of Cyber Media Department, Ms Yokananthini Murugeesan, a representative from the main office of Royal Malaysian Police, Penang and Mr Saint, a social media influencer and professional emcee.

The closing of the campaign will be Fam-Net Day which will be held in Youth Park, Penang on 24th November. Activities at Fam-Net Day includes activities that encourage family bonding spirit, sports, lucky draw and many more.
