George Town – The Penang State Government sets out to flourish the local arts scene by bringing back to the Kecik-Kecik Group Show 2021 that features a variety of affordable contemporary art pieces produced by Malaysian artists. Penang State Executive Councillor for Tourism and Creative Economy YB Yeoh Soon Hin welcomes Penang-based artists to join its first Open Call by submitting their artwork including paintings, woodworks and sculptures before 31 March 2021.

“This show will open up economic opportunities for artists who have suffered a loss of income due to the pandemic. It will also connect and bridge the gap between artists and art lovers, eventually cultivating a healthy and active arts ecosystem for the state,” he added. He said that this event aims to introduce Malaysian contemporary art to wider audience whilst developing a strong culture of collecting Malaysian art.

The Kecik-Kecik Group Show 2021 that is jointly organised by Penang Art District and Hin Bus Depot will also be turning digital this edition, in view of the pandemic and restriction measures. Interested artists may visit for more information and to submit their applications.
