PUTRAJAYA, March 25 – YAB Dato ‘Sri Ismail Sabri Yaakob, Prime Minister of Malaysia had a phone call with HE Lee Hsien Loong, Prime Minister of the Republic of Singapore on 24 March 2022.
Both Prime Ministers acknowledged that Malaysia and Singapore have shown encouraging progress especially in the implementation of the COVID-19 vaccination and pandemic management program for the people of their respective countries.
YAB Prime Minister, Dato ‘Sri Ismail Sabri Yaakob and His Excellency the Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong also took note of the progress that has been achieved in continuing the cross -border journey through the Complete Vaccine (Air) and (Land) Travel Route. In line with the life transition phase in the face of the COVID-19 pandemic, the two leaders have agreed that it is time to open up the land borders of the two countries for travelers who have been fully vaccinated.
Therefore, beginning April 1, 2022, both countries will allow all travelers who have been fully vaccinated to cross the land border without having to undergo quarantine or perform COVID-19 testing, including pre-release testing and upon arrival.
This applies to all categories of travelers and types of land transport. YAB Dato ‘Sri Ismail Sabri Yaakob said, Malaysia will open the border to international travelers starting April 1, 2022, and further mark another important milestone in facilitating cross -border travel with its nearest neighbor, Singapore.
Today’s announcement reflects good relations, multi-faceted cooperation, and strong ties between the people of the two countries. This will definitely contribute to recovery efforts with a positive impact on the economy and well-being of the people of both countries, “said Dato ‘Sri Ismail Sabri Yaakob.
The Prime Minister of Singapore, TYT Lee Hsien Loong, said Singapore and Malaysia enjoyed deep, friendly relations in various aspects, as well as strong people -to -people ties. “Today’s announcement is an important milestone in our transition to life with COVID-19. It reflects the strong cooperation enjoyed by both sides throughout this pandemic and will help both countries emerge stronger from this crisis, “said HE Lee Hsien Loong.
