GEORGETOWN, May 16 – The Malaysian Maritime Enforcement Agency (Maritim Malaysia) Penang received a call from the Perai Police Station regarding an individual believed to have jumped the Penang First Bridge at Kilometer 4.0 towards Pulau heading to Perai at 12.10pm this afternoon. Penang State Maritime Director, Maritime Captain Abd Razak bin Mohamed said, the PERKASA 1221 boat was arranged to move to the scene to conduct a search upon receiving the information.
Maritime Rescue Sub Center (MRSC) Langkawi activated at 12.30 this afternoon with involving the Fire and Rescue Department, the Civil Defense Force and the Batu Uban Marine Police Force. The victim was suspected to be Tee Wei Kuang, a 28 -year -old man believed to be from Johor Bahru, leaving a white Perodua Myvi on the bridge with identification documents.
The Carilamat Forward Base (PHC) was established at the Batu Uban Marine Police Jetty and until now the search effort is still ongoing. The rough sea and rain made it difficult for the CARILAMAT team to carry out the search.
