SEREMBAN, August 17 – The statement by the Prime Minister, Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob, that the government is prepared to face any possibility of holding a general election if there are parties that want to attract support for the government, is a fact. UMNO Deputy President, Datuk Seri Mohamad Hasan, said the action was his choice, if there was a party that wanted to attract support to the government.

His option is to dissolve Parliament. That is the basis of our democracy which is to advise the Yang di-Pertuan Agong to dissolve Parliament and we have already entered the zone which is the fifth year of this term ending. When that situation arrives, people will talk about elections and if the Prime Minister can no longer get the majority’s trust, the only option he has is to advise the Yang di-Pertuan Agong to dissolve Parliament.

There are two options, either he resigns or dissolves Parliament, but the choice is of course to dissolve Parliament,” he said when met by reporters at the Negeri Sembilan State Legislative Assembly (DUN), here, today. Mohamad commented on Ismail Sabri’s recent statement that the government was ready to hold a general election (PRU), if Perikatan Nasional (PN) withdrew its support.
