BATU KAWAN, September 10 – Penang Youth Development Corporation (PYDC) with Penang Chinese Chamber of Commerce Young Entrepreneurs Section (PCCC YES), Malaysian Association of Malay Traders and Entrepreneurs (PERDASAMA), Malaysian Indian Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Penang (MICCI Penang) has organized closing and prize giving ceremony of Youth Entrepreneurship Challenge 2022 (YEC) at Opera Theatre, The Ship Campus Batu Kawan, Penang. A total of twelve finalist has presented their business ideas in front of seven judges who were appointed by the PYDC based on their industry background and expertise.

The closing and prize giving ceremony was officiated by Tuan Yang Terutama Tun Dato’ Seri Utama Ahmad Fuzi Bin Haji Abdul Razak, Yang di-Pertua Negeri Pulau Pinang joined by Penang State EXCO Youth and Sports, YB Soon Lip Chee and General Manager of PYDC, Dr. Gwee Sai Ling. Also present at the programme, were YB Dato’ Dr Amar Pritpal Bin Abdullah, Deputy Speaker of the Penang State Legislative Assembly, Datin Barathi a/p Suppiah, General Manager Chief Minister Incorporated (CMI), members of Penang State Legislative Assembly, sponsors, universities and college representative, industrials representative, and guest.

TYT Tun emphasized in his speech the importance of planning a business career and having a clear vision when deciding on an overall business strategy. TYT Tun also stated that young entrepreneurs need to compare their performance with the best global models and must have resilience in overcoming failures and challenges to ensure success. Tuan Yang Terutama Tun Dato’ Seri Utama Ahmad Fuzi Bin Haji Abdul Razak, Yang di-Pertua Negeri Pulau Pinang shared a few advise for young entrepreneurs which includes:

  1. To determine your overall business appetite within your capacity
  2. To fully comprehend the government’s policy framework, relevant laws including rules and regulation pertaining to your business sector
  3. To be creative in raising the necessary funds and capital required

I am pretty sure the youth who took up the courage, stepped out from their comfort zone and participated in the challenge should have learned a lot by now through the well thought, planned  and executed supports including sponsorship from the industrial partners in providing the financial supports and speakers, mentors, coaches have spent their valuable time to share, to guide and to advise our participants tirelessly. These have formed a very solid foundation for our youth to further venture into entrepreneurship as they gained the invaluable experience throughout the journey.
