KUALA LUMPUR, October 4 – The UMNO Supreme Working Council meeting which took place yesterday night, 30th September 2022 chaired by YB Dato’ Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid bin Hamidi, UMNO President has reached several resolutions and Prime Minister Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob will present a suitable date to the Yang di-Pertuan Agong to dissolve Parliament and pave the way for a general election to be held this year, said UMNO Secretary-General Datuk Seri Ahmad Maslan.

Reading out the Press Statement the conclusion of the Umno Supreme Council meeting said the dissolution of Parliament should be soon to enable the 15th General Election to be held this year as well. Based on this decision, the YAB Prime Minister will present the proposed dissolution date to His Majesty the Yang di-Pertuan Agong in accordance with Article 40 (1) of the Federal Constitution.

The decision of this meeting is based on UMNO’s consistent stance since the beginning to return the people’s mandate that was delayed due to the Covid-19 Pandemic after the collapse of the Pakatan Harapan Government due to internal political disputes among them. Accordingly, all party machinery at every level is instructed to finalize all the preparations that have been made before to enter the dissolution phase until the date of the 15th General Election.

UMNO believes that only by restoring the people’s rights to allow the real mandate to be obtained, then a stable government can be formed to restore the country, especially in the economic aspect that is closely related to the issue of their well-being, in addition to several efforts to reform institutions towards creating better governance good for the country.
