KUALA LUMPUR, November 24 – Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim was officially sworn in at Istana Negara as Malaysia’s 10th Prime Minister this evening, November 24, 2022, following five days of hung parliament in the country. Dressed in a traditional black outfit, the 75 year old took the oath of office during an elaborate ceremony. He was accompanied by his wife Dato’ Seri Dr. Wan Azizah binti Wan Ismail.

Earlier in the day, Perikatan Nasional (PN) said it would consider a unity government, after Barisan Nasional said early Thursday morning that it would take part in the unity government. “His Highness would also like to inform the prime minister and the new government to be formed to show humility and wisdom,” the statement added.

“The fact is that ordinary people should not be burdened with endless political turmoil when the country needs a stable government to boost the economic landscape and development of the country.” The palace statement also reminded elected Members of Parliament to show priority, high commitment as well as to provide the best service to the people.
