KUALA LUMPUR, January 23 – Prime Minister, Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim described his visit to the MCA Open House as the first time since 25 years that he entered the MCA Guest House on Sunday. The Tambun MP also thanked MCA President, Datuk Seri Dr Wee Ka Siong for inviting him and his wife, Datuk Seri Dr Wan Azizah Wan Ismail to celebrate Chinese New Year together this year. “I remember, it’s been 25 years since I entered the MCA building and I was happy to see many old friends.

“MCA is a friend in the framework of a long friendship but the good thing is that we have never broken friendship. Despite different parties and views from time to time, but now it has turned around again,” he told reporters after the MCA Open House celebration on Sunday. Also present were the President of UMNO who is also the Deputy Prime Minister, Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi and the Minister of Communications and Digital, Fahmi Fadzil.

The presence of Anwar and the PH leadership at the ceremony on Sunday stole the spotlight because the ‘political enemies’ are now sitting together as friends in the Unity Government on a very meaningful day especially for the Chinese community. In the 15th General Election (GE15), PH and Perikatan Nasional (PN) were the two blocs of political parties that got the highest number of Dewan Rakyat seats, 82 and 73 seats respectively.
