PUTRAJAYA, March 9 – National Alliance (PN) chairman Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin was released after about nine hours of testifying at the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) Headquarters here on Thursday. Muhyiddin came out accompanied by some members of Parti Bersatu at 8.20pm and had time to meet reporters before leaving in a Toyota Vellfire vehicle. Before that, Muhyiddin was seen attending the MACC at about 11.15am.

The MACC in a statement confirmed the arrest of the President of Parti Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia (Bersatu) at 1pm before being released on bail. Muhyiddin, who is also a Pagoh Member of Parliament, was detained to complete the final investigation process regarding the Jana Wibawa project and related issues. The MACC has also received permission from the Attorney General’s Office to prosecute the former Prime Minister at the Kuala Lumpur Court on 10 March 2023.
