KUALA LUMPUR, March 15 – The Malaysian Golf Association (MGA) is pleased to announce the inaugural MGA Junior Open Championship, which will take place at Tanjung Puteri Golf Resort, Pasir Gudang, Johor from 8-10 March 2023. The tournament is open to junior golfers from 12-18 years old which will provide an opportunity for young golfers to showcase their skills in a competitive environment. The tournament is designed to promote junior golf and provide a fun and challenging experience for participants. Junior golfers will compete in 2 different categories.

The Gross Champion (Boys and Girls) which will be further categorized into Boys A (15- 18 years old), Boys B (12-14 years old), Girls A (15-18) and Girls B (12-14) as well as NJDP Cup (Boys & Girls) with prizes awarded to the top 5 finishers in the Gross Champion and the top 3 finishers in the NJDP Cup. The tournament will also provide an opportunity for junior golfers to meet and compete against other young golfers from the neighboring countries. Conducted by the MGA National Junior Development Program (NJDP).

The MGA Junior Open Championship at Tanjung Puteri Golf Resort is a 72-hole stroke play event being played on Plantation Course (A course) the par-72, 6454-metre for the Boy’s Division and par-72, 5043 metre for the Girl’s Division. The tournament is open to junior boys and girls between 12-18 years old. We are excited to host this year’s MGA Junior Open Championship,” said Mohd Fauzi Mesran, the MGA National Junior Development Program Chairman.

“This tournament is a great opportunity for young golfers to test their skills against their peers and gain valuable experience playing in a competitive environment.” Registration for the tournament is now open and interested participants can download the entry form at www.mgaonline.com.my or in-person at MGA office at Desa Pandan, Kuala Lumpur or Tanjung Puteri Golf Resort, Pasir Gudang, Johor. The entry fee for the tournament is RM380.00 for Malaysian and US$150.00 for non- Malaysians. The registration deadline is 5th March 2023.
