KUALA LUMPUR, April 12 – Federal Civil Servants will receive salary payments no later than April 14, three days earlier than April 17 as previously scheduled. The Prime Minister, Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim said, it will also involve the Aidilfitri Special Financial Assistance amounting to RM700 that was announced earlier. I received many applications, 17 (April) and above is too short to prepare for Hari Raya. So we start early, we will complete it by April 14.

Earlier the Congress of Unions of Employees in the Public Service (CUEPACS) suggested that the date of salary payment to civil servants be brought forward to April 14. Its president, Datuk Adnan Mat, said it was to enable civil servants to buy goods for preparations for Aidilfitri which is expected to be celebrated on April 22. Anwar also said that pension payments for retirees also started on the same date.

He said the Aidilfitri Special Financial Aid will benefit nearly one million recipients among rice farmers, small rubber farmers, fishermen and uniformed volunteers including the Malaysian Volunteer Department, Malaysian Civil Defense Force, Fire Volunteers and Police Volunteers. Earlier, Anwar, who is also a Member of Parliament for Tambun, went to the field to see the STR Phase 2 payment process at BSN Meru Raya Branch.

He also presented STR in cash to several recipients. Previously, the government announced that STR Phase 2 payments would be implemented from April 5, 2023 to help the people prepare to celebrate Aidilfitri. It involves an allocation of RM1.26 billion benefiting a total of 8.7 million beneficiaries from the B40 group.
