KUALA LUMPUR, April 19 – Muhammad Hanif Naufal Mohd Mazni, 23, an alumnus of Selayang Community College (KKSY) has forged a name on the international scene when he successfully brought home the bronze medal for the ‘Restaurant Services’ category and was awarded the ‘Medallion of Excellence for Malaysia Team’ in the 10th International Olympic Games in 2023 in France last March 23 to March 26, 2023. Muhammad Hanif Naufal Mohd Mazni better known as Naufal has undergone intensive training since 2019 to ensure he is ready for this prestigious competition.
Naufal is an alumnus of the KKSY Culinary Basic Certificate in the Learning Disabilities (OKU) category. Naufal’s success began in 2018 when he participated in the National Abilimpik Competition and managed to get first place in the competition for the same field. The success gave Naufal the opportunity to participate in this international level competition. My success is the result of high support and commitment from my family, lecturers, Puan Fazlilawati binti Mohd Fadzil and friends around me. Without their encouragement.
There is no way I would be here to achieve success and make a name for myself on the international stage,” he said when he arrived at the Kuala Lumpur International Airport last night. Selayang Community College has helped me a lot to improve my skills in the culinary field, especially “Restaurant Services”. Even though I took the Culinary Foundation Certificate, but that didn’t stop me from learning the ins and outs of other hospitality industries, he added.
The high commitment from Mrs. Fazlilawati Fadzil in providing an intensive training opportunity with the national expert of the “Restaurant Services” industry, Mr. Mohd Jeffri, is a stepping stone for her for this competition and she wants to win despite being afraid to compete with various levels of participants from various countries. He also stated that being disabled is not an obstacle to pursuing dreams and that each individual should always give their best in every opportunity that comes and pursue dreams to increase the opportunities of people with disabilities to improve their lives in the future.
In addition to Naufal, two (2) students from the Polytechnic also won a silver medal for the ‘Painting and Waste Art’ category by Nur Amiratul Farahin Ab Rahman, 23, an alumni of Politeknik Ibrahim Sultan (PIS) and a bronze medal in the ‘Cake Decoration’ category by Wan Muhammad Hafizunif Wan Roslan, 27, from Tuanku Syed Sirajuddin Polytechnic (PTSS). Participation in this skills competition has a great impact and benefit to the students as well as the Polytechnic and Community College (PolyCC).
Where it can recognize the skill level of students and benchmark the skill level of PolyCC students.
