KUALA LUMPUR, June 4 – The National Convention of the Unity Government, which saw the participation of 19 political parties, has been hailed as a historic moment that can strengthen and stabilize Malaysia. DAP Secretary General, Anthony Loke, expressed confidence that Malaysia can return to its former glory and achieve greatness on the international stage with the strengthening of the Unity Government. Loke emphasized the importance of a good relationship between race, religion and region, which is a principle that is central to the Unity Government.
He urged Malaysians to see the government’s inclusiveness as a way to strengthen the country and not as competition between races. The competition today is between Malaysia and foreign countries, not between the people, Loke said, adding that the Unity Government is capable of winning the upcoming 16th General Election (GE16) if all parties continue to work together and strengthen their commitment to the government. Regarding the State Election (PRN), Loke stated that it is crucial for all parties to work hard to convince the people and to improve the government’s performance.
He also emphasized the importance of setting a good example for grassroots leaders, stating that the unity and spirit of cooperation shown at the convention will be felt by the grassroots. The 2023 Unity Government National Convention was held at the World Trade Center (WTC) on Sunday and involved almost 10,000 delegates and supporters. The convention was held simultaneously with the Women, Youth, and Princess Convention.
