KUALA LUMPUR, June 11 – CzipLee a well-established homegrown stationery retailer, has reached a significant milestone as it celebrates its 55th anniversary. Founded in 1968 as a modest sundry store in Kajang, Selangor, CzipLee has evolved into a thriving business known for its specialty services, extensive product range, and commitment to the community. Over the years, CzipLee’s growth has been accompanied by various challenges, symbolized by the four elements of matter: Water, Fire, Air, and Earth.
The company faced multiple flooding incidents, a devastating fire, and the impact of the global pandemic. However, CzipLee’s resilience and adaptability have enabled it to overcome these obstacles and thrive. Despite the recent sale of their two-storey landmark store in Telawi, Bangsar, CzipLee remains committed to its customers and the future of the business. The company’s name reflects its core values, with “Czip” representing unity and gathering, and “Lee” signifying vision, endurance, and strength.
Alvin Chen, Executive Director of CzipLee, expressed gratitude for the support received from the family, team, and community during the decision to let go of their iconic Bangsar location. Recognizing the changing consumer patterns and the impact of the pandemic, CzipLee has embarked on a strategic redirection to revamp its strategies and secure its future. As part of this redirection, CzipLee has embraced the concept of concept stores and pop-ups, allowing them to reach a wider audience beyond physical locations.
Each store offers a unique selection of stationery, art supplies, and lifestyle products. From CzipLee Southkey in Johor to CzipPetit in Bangsar Village 2, customers can enjoy a diverse range of offerings. The newly renovated CzipPlus outlet in Bangsar, Jalan Telawi, stands as the flagship concept store, boasting a curated selection of writing tools, ink products, fine arts, and printing services. Additionally, CzipLee has opened a pop-up store, Jippuri, at Pavilion Bukit Jalil, featuring exclusive Japanese stationery.
Looking ahead, CzipLee has exciting plans for expansion in the fourth quarter of 2023. CzipPetit in Bangsar Village 2 will be expanded threefold, offering customers a comprehensive concept store experience with an extensive selection of brands and products. The company also aims to introduce a new concept bookstore, partnering with like-minded book enthusiasts and creating a unique space that showcases books, stationery, and potentially includes a play area for children. Furthermore, CzipLee plans to revive its events and workshops, hosting them in the intimate setting of CzipPlus.
The company recently organized an event featuring acclaimed artist and author Red Hong Yi, fostering a sense of community and connection among attendees. CzipLee remains committed to its annual Mega Clearance Sale and continuous improvement of the online and in-app store experience for customers. As CzipLee celebrates 55 years of success, it embodies the spirit of resilience, adaptability, and commitment to community that has allowed it to thrive in the ever-changing retail landscape.
The key to maintaining the family business lies in embracing new strategies, meeting customer demands, and fostering a welcoming and inspiring environment for stationery enthusiasts of all ages.
