KUALA LUMPUR, June 19 – Building on the success of last year’s My Destination Sabah & Labuan Meet Johor and Putrajaya Roadshow, Tourism Malaysia is continuing its promotional efforts with the “Bah, Mari Pigi Sabah & Labuan Roadshow 2023”. With the tagline “Sustaining Tourism for Our Future,” this program aims to engage travel trades, expatriate communities, and students from international schools and private higher learning institutions in Kuala Lumpur, Selangor, and Putrajaya.

In collaboration with the Sabah Tourism Board and Malaysia Aviation Group (MAG) as strategic partners, the roadshow features a delegation of 34 representatives from Sabah and Labuan, including tour operators such as Borneo Excursions AHSB Rentacar Sdn Bhd, Borneo Sandakan Tours & Travel, Camp Borneo Travel and Tours Sdn Bhd, Intrepid Tours & Travel, TYK Adventure Tours Sdn Bhd, YTL Gaya Island Resort, Malaysia Aviation Group, members of the Federal of Rural Tourism Association Sabah (FERTAS) namely Ranau Tourism Association, Kadamaian Tourism Association, and Tambunan Tourism Association, as well as Kadaiku and officials from Tourism Malaysia Sabah and Sabah Tourism Board.

The roadshow kicks off on 23rd May 2023 with a Destination Presentation & B2B Session for Klang Valley agents at Ibis Kuala Lumpur City Centre, targeting 100-120 hosted buyers. It will be followed by a Roadshow and Get Together dinner at Parkroyal Collection, a Roadshow and B2C Session at Management & Science University (MSU) on 24th May 2023, a session at Sunway University on 25th May 2023, and the grand finale at Nexus International School Putrajaya on 26th May 2023. The roadshow is expected to attract between 1,000 to 2,000 participants throughout the duration.

Mr. Shahrin Mokhtar, Director of Package Development Division at Tourism Malaysia, representing Dato’ Dr. Ammar Abd Ghapar, Director General of Tourism Malaysia, highlighted the roadshow’s focus on promoting community-based and rural tourism destinations, products, and packages in Sabah and Labuan. He stated, “This roadshow aims to create awareness among the target audience about sustainable tourism, in line with Tourism Malaysia’s new focus on promoting Malaysia as the most recognizable must-visit ecotourism destination in the world.”

Mr. Shahrin Mokhtar also emphasized the significance of intensifying Tourism Malaysia’s promotion efforts for Visit Malaysia Year in 2025, with a target of 23.5 million international tourists and projected revenue of RM 76.8 billion. He added, “Undoubtedly, this is the right time to intensify Tourism Malaysia’s promotion effort for Visit Malaysia Year in 2025 to achieve the target of 23.5 million international tourists with a projected revenue of RM 76.8 billion.”

The roadshow was officiated by Mr. Shahrin Mokhtar, Director of Package Development Division at Tourism Malaysia. Among the attendees were Mr. Ahmad Johanif Mohd Ali, Senior Deputy Director of Domestic & Event Division at Tourism Malaysia; Mr. Azmi Abdullah, Director of Tourism Malaysia Central Region; Ms. Trecey J Tojuka, Deputy Director of Tourism Malaysia Sabah; Ms. Zarinah Amiluddin, Marketing Manager of Sabah Tourism Board; representatives from Malaysia Aviation Group (MAG), and government officials.
