
SEREMBAN, July 8 – Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim emphasized the importance of good economic governance and management in attracting domestic and foreign investors to invest in Malaysia, leading to rapid economic growth. Under his administration, the country has witnessed successful foreign investments from China, Japan, and most recently, Saudi Arabia.
In an address to Negeri Sembilan Civil Servants at the Seremban City Council Hall, Anwar revealed that Elon Musk, CEO of Tesla. has requested a meeting with him next week to discuss the possibility of increasing investment in Malaysia. He attributed this interest to Malaysia’s commitment to good governance and economic management. Anwar further highlighted recent interactions with Japanese investors who expressed their intention to expand their investments in Malaysia.
He also mentioned his visit to China a few months ago, which resulted in record-high Chinese investments in the country. The Prime Minister, who also serves as the Minister of Finance, pointed out that Saudi Aramco, a Saudi Arabian company, has agreed to expand its investments in Johor. He emphasized the significance of such investments in preventing unemployment, stimulating economic growth, and sustaining businesses in various sectors, including restaurants and hotels.
The meeting with Elon Musk is seen as an opportunity to further boost Malaysia’s investment landscape and attract more high-profile companies to the country. The presence of various officials, including Negeri Sembilan Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Aminuddin Harun, Transport Minister Anthony Loke Siew Fook, Chief Secretary to the State Tan Sri Mohd Zuki Ali, and Director General of Public Services Datuk Dr Zulkapli Mohamed, underscored the importance of this meeting for Malaysia’s economic development.
