
KUALA LUMPUR, July 21 – Barisan Nasional (BN) has announced a total of 108 candidates who will be contesting in the upcoming state elections in six states next month. BN Chairman, Datuk Seri Dr. Ahmad Zahid Hamidi, stated that the number includes 62 percent new faces, 18 percent incumbent State Legislative Assembly members, and 20 percent candidates who have previously contested.
Out of the 245 State Legislative Assembly seats contested in the six states’ elections, BN will field 108 candidates comprising of new faces, previous contenders, those who were defeated, and those offering themselves for re-election. These candidates represent a mix of new and experienced individuals, not to mention a significant number of candidates from the Women’s, Youth, and Puteri wings.
He said during the announcement ceremony of BN’s 15th General State Election candidates at the World Trade Centre (WTC) on Friday. The announcement marks BN’s preparation to compete in the state elections, with a diverse array of candidates aiming to represent the party’s interests in the respective states.
