KUALA LUMPUR, July 23 – The news circulating on social media about the death of the Minister of Domestic Trade and Consumer Affairs, Datuk Seri Salahuddin Ayub, has been confirmed to be false. The Press Secretary, Nur Syakirin Husnal ‘Az’ Hari, released a statement to the media, clarifying the situation and urging people to stop spreading and believing in rumors. “Stop spreading and believing in rumors. Datuk Seri Salahuddin Ayub is still alive. His heart is still beating, and he is currently in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) receiving medical treatment,” read the brief statement on Sunday.
As of 8:46 PM, Nur Syakirin stated that any further developments will be communicated accordingly. The rumors of Salahuddin’s death started spreading on social media on Sunday night. However, reliable media sources reported that Salahuddin was rushed to the emergency ward at HSB around 10:15 PM on Saturday after experiencing nausea and vomiting. It was later confirmed that he suffered from a brain hemorrhage and underwent surgery on Saturday.
