KUCHING, July 23 – Sarawak Consolidated Industries Berhad (SCIB), a civil engineering specialist, has announced significant changes to its board with the appointments of Abang Abdillah Izzarim bin Tan Sri Datuk Patinggi Abang Haji Abdul Rahman Zohari (“Abang Abdillah”) as Executive Chairman and Marcus Chin Choon Wei (“Marcus Chin”) as Executive Director. The appointments were made effective immediately at the Extraordinary General Meeting (EGM) held by the company.

Abang Abdillah Izzarim is currently the Chairman of PP Telecom and a director for Cempaka Helicopter Corporation Sdn Bhd, while Marcus Chin Choon Wei serves as the Chief Financial Officer of Artroniq Berhad and an Executive Director at APB Resources Berhad. In addition to these appointments, SCIB has also welcomed Mr. Kang Wei Luen, Dr. Dang Nguk Ling, and Mr. Liaw Way Gian as Independent Non-Executive Directors with immediate effect. Mr. Liaw is the Executive Director and CEO of Artroniq Berhad, Mr. Kang serves as an Independent Non-Executive Director of Artroniq,

And APB Resources Berhad, and Dr. Dang Nguk Ling is an Independent Non-Executive Director of APB Resources Berhad, where Mr. Liaw is also an Executive Director. The company also announced the resignation of Encik Rosland Bin Othman, the Group Chief Executive Officer and Managing Director, as well as three Independent Non-Executive Directors, namely En. Noor Azri bin Azerai, En. Mohd Shakir bin Shahimi, and En. Nuraiman bin Shaiful Annuar.

Following these changes, Mr. Ku Chong Hong has been redesignated as the Managing Director, and En. Shamsul Anuar Bin Ahamad Ibrahim has been redesignated as an Independent Non-Executive Director, both effective immediately. Expressing gratitude for the appointment, Mr. Ku Chong Hong, the new Managing Director of SCIB, stated, “I would like to thank the Board of Directors of SCIB for this appointment, and I would like to extend a warm welcome to Abang Abdillah as our newly appointed executive chairman.

Mr. Ku Chong Hong also expressed appreciation for the outgoing directors, acknowledging the dedication and guidance provided by Encik Rosland bin Othman, En. Noor Azri bin Noor Azerai, En. Mohd Shakir bin Shahimi, and En. Nuraiman bin Shaiful Annuar during their tenure with SCIB. As an engineering, procurement, construction, and commissioning (EPCC) company, SCIB has been leveraging its expertise to seek opportunities in small-to-mid-sized projects in rural areas across Malaysia.

One of its wholly-owned subsidiaries, SCIB Industrialised Building System Sdn Bhd (SCIBIBS), was awarded two school projects earlier this year, with a cumulative contract value of RM37.45 million. With an order book worth RM495.3 million as of the end of 3QFY2023, SCIB aims to continueexpanding its presence in the construction industry and undertaking new projects that contribute to the development of rural areas in Malaysia. The restructuring at the board level is expected to bring fresh perspectives and expertise to SCIB, enabling the company to navigate future challenges and capitalize on emerging opportunities in the civil engineering sector.
