SHAH ALAM, July 27 – Perikatan Nasional (PN) announced its list of candidates to contest in the upcoming state elections for Selangor on Wednesday. The announcement was made by PN Chairman, Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin, during a ceremony held at the public field of the Petaling Jaya City Council (MBPJ) in Taman Medan, Petaling Jaya. Perikatan Nasional (PN) tonight announced that it will contest in all seats of the State Legislative Assembly (DUN) in Selangor, Kedah, and Penang.

In Selangor, PN Chairman Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin announced that PN will contest in 56 seats, with Bersatu represented by 21 candidates, PAS (17), Gerakan (eight), and 10 candidates representing Bersatu-Bersekutu, one of Bersatu’s wings. Two former ministers, Datuk Seri Mohamed Azmin Ali and Datuk Seri Rina Harun, are among the prominent names to be fielded as candidates, each contesting in DUN Hulu Kelang and DUN Batu Tiga, respectively. Former Chief Secretary of the Ministry of Domestic Trade and Consumer Affairs, Datuk Seri Jamil Salleh, was announced to contest in DUN Dengkil, while the daughter of former Chairman of UMNO Selangor Liaison Body, Tan Sri Noh Omar, Nurul Syazwani, was named as a candidate in DUN Permatang.

In Kedah, PN is fielding 23 new faces, including those with academic and sports backgrounds. The composition of candidates in Kedah includes 21 from PAS, 12 from Bersatu, and three from Gerakan. Among the highlights are two academic figures, former Vice-Chancellor of Universiti Utara Malaysia (UUM), Prof. Haim Hilman, who is nominated in the DUN Jitra seat, and Prof. Dr. Muhammad Suffian Yusoff in DUN Bandar Baharu. Two sports personalities, former national football players and legends Baddrol Bakhtiar and Radhi Mat Din, are also nominated in DUN Gurun and DUN Alor Mengkudu, respectively. Kedah’s Menteri Besar, Datuk Seri Muhammad Sanusi Md Nor, will also defend his seat, Jeneri.

In Penang, Gerakan dominates the candidate list with 19 seats, followed by PAS (seven), Dewan Himpunan Penyokong PAS (DHPP) (three), Bersatu (seven), and Bersatu-Bersekutu (four). The Election Commission has set August 12 as the polling day for the State Elections in Selangor, Kedah, Kelantan, Terengganu, Penang, and Negeri Sembilan, while the candidate nomination date is set for this Saturday, with early voting on August 8.
