GEORGE TOWN, July 28 – The George Town Festival (GTF) is gearing up for its spectacular grand finale, “Light in the City,” scheduled for the 29th and 30th of July 2023. Taking place at the iconic Beach Street, this two-day event promises an immersive and mesmerizing program that celebrates the arts and cultural vibrancy of Penang. “Light in the City” pays homage to the significant presence and boundless potential of the arts in Penang, providing a vibrant platform for creative expression and community engagement.
The event is set to showcase a captivating array of activities and performances that are sure to leave attendees in awe. Among the highlights on 29th & 30th July 2023 are the mesmerizing “Immersio: Outdoor Projection Mapping” by Filamen and the intriguing “Immersio: Digital Art Gallery” held at The Whiteaways Arcade. Additionally, there will be various arts events, such as the Riso Art Exhibition, Riso Art Bazaar, Joy in George Town, and dothedoodle. Notably, “Colour the Street” offers an interactive segment, inviting both visitors and residents to contribute their artistic touch to the vibrant street ambiance.
The closing day, 30th July 2023, will be especially remarkable, with a lineup of special events and live performances. The Batik Fashion Showcase will feature the intricate artistry of homegrown and established fashion designers, highlighting the beauty of the textile and design. Furthermore, the award-winning crossover pianist, Jolynn J Chin, will grace the stage with a captivating live music performance. Adding to the cultural richness, At Adau from Sarawak will take the audience on a musical journey, presenting the enchanting melodies and rhythms of Borneo.
