GOMBAK, July 29 – The government does not impose any restrictions or barriers on any state election (PRN) candidates from using broadcast media and social media throughout the campaign period. The Minister of Communications and Digital, Fahmi Fadzil, stated that the government welcomes the media to use their platforms to conduct discussions and debates, as seen in the case of Sinar Harian and Astro Awani. He emphasized that Malaysia is a democratic country, and all parties should practice mature politics, including engaging in debates instead of resorting to mocking and hurling accusations.
“If any party wants to hold a debate, like Sinar Harian, which actively organizes discussions, and Astro Awani, which served as the host for the debate between Rafizi Ramli and Datuk Seri Mohamed Azmin Ali, this is a very positive atmosphere. All media outlets are welcome to be involved and provide their platforms for discussions and debates, rather than competing through hurling accusations or mocking,” he said, speaking at the Nomination Center of SMK Sungai Pusu.
