SEBERANG JAYA, August 6 – The statement made by PAS Secretary-General Datuk Seri Takiyuddin Hassan about the Perikatan Nasional (PN) wave in the six states facing state elections has been described as a politically motivated statement. Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim said that the people should choose stable politics, reject extreme views, and drive economic growth. Giving an example in Kedah, Anwar, who is also the Chairman of Pakatan Harapan (PH), said that the reception in Kedah during his visit on Friday night was very positive.

“It’s okay, it’s a political statement. I was in Kedah yesterday, the reception was exceptional, good. We cannot deny that. So, in the end, the people must choose, firstly, stable politics, reject extreme views, and drive economic growth. We have explained our success in those areas,” he said when met after officiating the opening of the 16th Malaysia National Economic Conference in Seberang Jaya on Saturday.

Anwar, who is also the President of Parti Keadilan Rakyat (PKR), said this when asked to comment on Takiyuddin’s statement claiming that the PN wave in the six states is a clear indication that the Perpaduan government will abdicate in August. Takiyuddin added that the support from supporters in the six states so far has been very positive. Takiyuddin also urged all voters to continue supporting PN by translating it through the ballot papers on August 12.

In another development, when asked to comment on PAS apologizing for the incident involving the President of Parti Gerakan Rakyat Malaysia (Gerakan), Datuk Dr. Dominic Lau Hoe Chai, Anwar said that there are many more things that PAS should apologize for. There are many more things that should be apologized for, that’s just one,” he said briefly. Previously, the media reported that Dominic, who is also the Deputy President of PN, was allegedly prevented from attending the Mega PN Best Ceramah in Sungai Dua.

The mega ceramah featured PAS President and Marang Member of Parliament, Tan Sri Abdul Hadi Awang, as well as the Chairman of Perhubungan Bersatu Pulau Pinang and Penanti PN DUN candidate, Zulkifli Bakar. It was reported that the PN Chairman of Penang was asked to leave the event as he was said to have not been invited to participate in the program. In response to this, PAS apologized and expressed discomfort about the incident.

Takiyuddin made the apology on his Facebook page on Friday. In his statement, Takiyuddin said that although Dominic later denied the allegations, the central leadership of PAS believes that his presence should be accepted and appreciated as a guest based on Islamic morals and principles.
