GEORGE TOWN, August 10 – The Deputy Prime Minister, Datuk Seri Dr. Ahmad Zahid Hamidi, believes that Penang, which is the birth state of Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim, will continue to progress with technological advancements under Anwar’s leadership as the Prime Minister of Malaysia. He stated that even though Penang is the second most developed state after Selangor, it will continue to receive attention from the Prime Minister.
“If this is the person and leader who will drive Malaysia towards becoming a developed nation, then there is no reason why the people of Penang should not support the Unity Government in Penang and throughout Malaysia,” he said during his speech at the Unity Madani Tour in Penang, held in Kampung Melayu, Air Itam, on Saturday night.
Therefore, Ahmad Zahid said that all people, regardless of race and religion, should support the Penang government under the leadership of Chief Minister Chow Kon Yeow. He also expressed confidence that Penang will once again be governed by the Unity Government after the upcoming State Elections (PRN). Even though it has been 15 years since BN (Barisan Nasional) and UMNO have not been part of the Penang government.
I believe that with the sincerity of the Prime Minister and the blessings of Kon Yeow, BN will be part of the new Penang government,” he said. In light of this, Ahmad Zahid wants all BN machinery to support all Pakatan Harapan (PH) candidates who are contesting in the PRN because the PH machinery has also committed to working hard to win BN candidates in Penang.
