KUALA LUMPUR, August 13 – Prime Minister, Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim, tonight called on the Pakatan Harapan and Barisan Nasional coalitions to respect the results of the state elections (PRN) that have maintained the ‘status quo’ in the six states involved. The Chairman of Pakatan Harapan stated that these results were obtained through the democratic system, and the choice of the people must be respected with utmost care.
Any legal issues that arise should be addressed according to the legal processes and regulations set forth by the Election Commission (Suruhanjaya Pilihan Raya or SPR). He further emphasized that regardless of the outcomes, whether parties win or lose, they should all focus on strengthening unity, concentrating on uplifting the nation’s dignity, and continuing to advocate for the people’s well-being. For both the United Government and the Federal Government, which remains stable and firm following the PRN results, we will continue to serve. Starting from Monday.
We will not only continue our regular duties but will work even harder and collaborate diligently to ensure that Malaysia achieves remarkable success, he reiterated. The Prime Minister’s call for unity and respect for democratic processes comes after the election results in the six states were announced, maintaining the existing political landscape. It is a reminder of the importance of upholding the principles of democracy and the need for all parties to work together for the betterment of the nation.
