PUTRAJAYA, August 14 – The Islamic Tourism Centre (ITC) is pleased to announce the appointment of Nizran bin Noordin as its new Director General, effective from 10 July 2023. With a remarkable career spanning over 23 years, Nizran brings a wealth of experience in driving transformative growth across various sectors. His expertise ranges from working in a diversified conglomerate to investment banking, entrepreneurship in the technology industry, state government administration, and leadership in a public-listed company.

Previously serving as the Group CEO/Executive Director of Majuperak Holdings Berhad, a public-listed company under the control of Perbadanan Kemajuan Negeri Perak, Nizran contributed to the company’s success in property development, facilities management, and renewable energy businesses. Given Nizran’s extensive corporate and business background, he has been entrusted with leading ITC to new heights through transformative initiatives that capitalize on the booming Muslim-Friendly Tourism and Hospitality industry.

Projections indicate that this sector will be worth USD225 billion globally by 2028. Nizran’s responsibilities also include assisting the Minister and Deputy Minister of Tourism, Arts, and Culture in developing Malaysia as a prominent Umrah hub. Reflecting on his appointment, Nizran expressed his enthusiasm for the role, stating, “Since its establishment in 2009, the Islamic Tourism Centre has made significant strides in formulating comprehensive standards and raising awareness about the potential of Muslim-Friendly Tourism and Hospitality.

I am honored to lead ITC into its next phase of growth and build upon this legacy to position Malaysia as a global hub for Islamic Tourism and Umrah.” Nizran acknowledged the current post-COVID recovery phase in the global tourism industry and emphasized his commitment to collaboration with local and international industry players. He aims to unlock new opportunities through innovative thinking and inspiring ideas.

By working together, the goal is to cultivate a more inclusive and welcoming environment for Muslim-friendly tourists while fostering a robust and sustainable tourism economy that benefits the industry, the people, and society at large. Nizran holds a Bachelor of Arts degree with honors from Lancaster University in the United Kingdom, specializing in Accounting and Finance. His educational background further enhances his expertise in leading ITC towards achieving its vision of becoming a global leader in Islamic Tourism.
