SUNGAI BULOH, August 22 – The Faculty of Medicine, Universiti Teknologi MARA (UiTM), stands as a dedicated collaborator in the prestigious 21st International Camp for Medical Students 2023. Organized by the World Assembly of Muslim Youth (WAMY) and the Islamic Medical Association in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia (IMAKSA), this annual international summer camp brings together medical students from around the world. Under the patronage of the Federation of Islamic Medical Associations (FIMA), this year’s host is The Islamic Medical Association of Malaysia (IMAM), with the camp welcoming 120 medical students from 16 countries, including 18 students from UiTM.

The event will take place from July 29th to August 3rd, 2023, at the Nur Lembah Pangsun Eco Resort, Hulu Langat, Selangor, with the theme “Muslim Medical Professionals: Contemporary Challenges and Solutions.” Throughout the camp, various activities are planned, including lectures and workshops conducted by renowned Muslim doctors worldwide, a community outreach program, sports and physical activities, and a tourism day to visit Putrajaya. The Faculty of Medicine at UiTM plays a crucial role in ensuring the success of this program by providing logistic support, including transportation for the entire week of the programme.

Students from the faculty have been actively involved year after year, fostering close networking with doctors and students from other Islamic Medical Associations. This year, a lecturer from the faculty serves as the main organizing committee member, working alongside IMAM to oversee the camp’s preparation and execution, with the help of selected UiTM students. Moreover, the faculty is actively contributing to the camp’s community outreach program by sending lecturers, staff, and equipment from the Emergency Department and the Clinical Skill Centre for the running of the Basic Life Support program.

This involvement showcases the faculty’s commitment to making a positive impact on the community and medical education. The Faculty of Medicine at UiTM is proud to be a part of this international event and hopes to perpetuate its collaboration with IMAM and other organizations involved in future projects. The partnership signifies a strong commitment to advancing medical education and fostering a global network of Muslim medical professionals dedicated to addressing contemporary challenges and finding sustainable solutions.
