GEORGE TOWN, August 24 – In a significant stride toward youth empowerment and education, the Penang Youth Development Corporation (PYDC) has joined forces with Dell Technologies to unveil the “Develop with Dell” program. The program’s launch, hosted at Dell’s SWTC site in Penang, brought together representatives from PYDC, Dell, as well as higher learning institutions and high schools in Penang. The primary objective of the “Develop with Dell” program is to equip university and college students in Penang with essential IT, digital, and soft skills.

Encompassing client technologies, enterprise foundations, and career readiness, among others.  Participants will gain access to a specialized curriculum built upon comprehensive training modules that Dell has meticulously developed over the years for its partners and customers. Upon successful completion, participants will receive a certificate of achievement jointly issued by Dell Education Services and PYDC. Dr. Gwee Sai Ling, General Manager of Penang Youth Development Corporation (PYDC), lauded the collaboration, stating, “Our mission at PYDC is to educate, develop, and empower young people in Penang through a holistic approach.

The ‘Develop with Dell’ program serves as an excellent example of a public-private partnership that will undoubtedly enhance the future prospects of our youths. We are sincerely grateful for all the support from Dell, from the initial idea to curriculum development and execution.” Andy Muniandy, Director of Human Resources for Malaysia and South Asia & Emerging Markets at Dell Technologies, expressed pride in the partnership, saying, “We take pride in collaborating with PYDC to empower young talents to enter the workforce. Dell is leveraging its IT industry expertise to enrich the program’s curriculum, covering technical foundations, hardware troubleshooting, and handling service requests.

We hope that these skills will provide them with a competitive advantage in building their careers in various fields.” Jenn Owe-Lee, Director for Customer/Technical Training, Education Services, Asia Pacific and Japan, Dell Technologies, shed light on the program’s uniqueness, stating, “Dell’s customers and partners have benefited from our robust training programs for years. This collaboration with PYDC will introduce a customized version designed to equip students with insights and transform them into competitive talents in their chosen industries. It also aligns perfectly with our global initiative, Changing the Face of Tech (CFT), where we focus on attracting and empowering talent from diverse backgrounds.

Going beyond the traditional talent pool to recruit and establish a uniquely strong, diverse workforce through three pillars: Engage, Educate, and Employ.” Commencing in October 2023, participants of the “Develop with Dell” program will embark on intensive 10-12 week training sessions at Dell’s Education Services Training Center, located at Plot 27, Jalan Sungai Kluang, Bayan Lepas Free Industrial Zone Phase 4, 11900 Bayan Lepas, Pulau Pinang.
