SHAH ALAM, August 24 – Prime Minister, Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim, gave an assurance that the current Perpaduan Government, comprising 19 coalition parties, is strong, stable, and difficult to topple. As the Chairman of Pakatan Harapan (PH), Anwar stated that compared to the early days of assuming power in November last year, the unity among all leaders, including those in the Cabinet, has become more solid and less susceptible to disruption. In the early stages of forming the government, we heard various attempts to take over the government, and these speculations continued from month to month until the recent budget presentation for 2023.
Now, there are rumors that the Perpaduan Government will fall in August… these are all just rumors. Don’t listen to and be swayed by such stories. At this moment, our government is strong and united, with all party leaders in the Perpaduan coalition agreeing to uphold the existing government,” he said at the Ceramah Arus Merah Kuning event in conjunction with the Selangor State Elections (PRN) in Subang Bestari. Also present at the event were Selangor Menteri Besar, Datuk Seri Amirudin Shari, as well as two PH candidates for the State Legislative Assembly seats of Kota Damansara, Muhammad Izuan Ahmad Kasim, and Paya Jaras, Mohd Khairuddin Othman.
The Prime Minister emphasized that the government’s stability is further strengthened by the unity and agreement of his two deputies, Datuk Seri Dr. Ahmad Zahid Hamidi and Datuk Seri Fadillah Yusof, who continue to express their support for the government’s strength. He added that the stability of his leadership is also reinforced through the steadfast commitment shown by leaders from PH, Barisan Nasional (BN), Gabungan Parti Sarawak (GPS), Gabungan Rakyat Sabah (GRS), Warisan, and all parties in the Perpaduan Government coalition.
Anwar reiterated his commitment to never compromise or forgive those involved in corruption and embezzlement of state funds, especially when they are in power. They can accuse me of various things, and I can forgive them, but when it comes to corruption and stealing from the people and the nation, I will not forgive and will demand that the authorities investigate until the stolen money is returned to the people. I don’t want to make many promises, but one thing is certain: I will do my utmost to bring about positive changes for the people and the nation, he stated.
Regarding the Selangor State Elections, Anwar hoped that the people of the state would make wise choices by selecting candidates from parties committed to eradicating corruption, misuse of power, and have a proven track record of developing the state into the most advanced in Malaysia. In this regard, I believe that the people of Selangor are discerning and will support candidates from the PH-BN coalition to ensure the continuity of good governance in the state,” he concluded.
