SHAH ALAM, August 28 – Sultan Johor, Sultan Ibrahim Almarhum Sultan Iskandar, has expressed that more time should be given to Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim to develop the country’s economy. Quoting a Sin Chew Daily media report, Sultan Ibrahim stated that this is due to the financial crisis faced by the Unity Government under Anwar’s leadership, which is currently posing significant challenges. “Anwar only realized the government’s financial difficulties after taking office. I believe he needs more time,” His Majesty said on Saturday.
Furthermore, Sultan Ibrahim expressed relief that Anwar’s official visit to China earlier this year has successfully yielded many positive results for the country’s economic growth. The official delegation’s visit, which took place from March 29th to April 1st, witnessed Malaysia securing commitments of up to RM170 billion in investments from China. In a related development, Johor received a significant portion of these commitments, with RM80 billion in investments from China’s largest petrochemical company, Rongsheng Petrochemical Co Ltd.
