KUALA LUMPUR, September 1 – AmGeneral Insurance Berhad has taken a significant step towards bridging the digital divide by announcing the donation of 150 laptops to eleven schools nationwide. This inspiring initiative, in collaboration with the Financial Industry Collective Outreach (FINCO), forms part of the Generasi Ceria Belajar corporate social responsibility (CSR) program, aimed at providing greater learning opportunities for underprivileged students in Malaysia.

As a pioneer in sustainable education efforts, FINCO, an initiative led by the financial industry in Malaysia, is partnering with AmGeneral to ensure that these laptops reach the schools in need, spanning across Perak, Selangor, Johor, Terengganu, Sabah, and Sarawak. Puneet Pasricha, Chief Executive Officer of AmGeneral Insurance Berhad, emphasized the company’s commitment to fostering equal education opportunities for all. He stated, “Education is a fundamental right, and we are deeply committed to enhancing access to better learning opportunities.

Especially for the less fortunate children. We want to help prevent digital disparity and ensure our future generation is well-equipped to thrive in this digital and technologically driven era.” AmGeneral’s involvement in this noble cause aligns with their Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) agenda, which focuses on reducing waste, reusing resources, and recycling electronics. This initiative not only supports underprivileged students but also showcases the company’s dedication to environmental sustainability.

The laptops will find their new homes in eleven deserving schools, including SJK (Tamil) Mahathma Ghandi Kalasalai Kuala Kangsar, SMK USJ 12 Subang Jaya, SMK Sepagaya Lahad Datu, SMK Perempuan Sandakan, SK Batu Putih Baru Sandakan, SK Jaya Bakti Beluran, SK Batu Putih Baru Sandakan, SK Felda Lok Heng Kota Tinggi, SK Kita Kampung Sepupok Niah, and SMK Merchang, Marang. During the laptop handover ceremony, representatives from AmGeneral Insurance Berhad, including Chief Executive Officer Puneet Pasricha and Chief Distribution Officer Grace Quah, were present.

Alongside FINCO Chief Executive Officer Clare Walker and Senior Vice President of Special Project, ESG, and FINCO from Group Corporate Communication and Marketing of AmBank Group, Heida Hew.
