GEORGE TOWN, September 12 – For the first time in over 25 years in the industry, USAINS Holding Sdn. Bhd. has organized the inaugural USAINS Penang Hill Charity Run 2023, which drew participation from more than 1,000 individuals from various walks of life, including children. This charity run serves the purpose of raising awareness about mental health, a crucial issue that often faces stigma and discrimination in society. In line with this, the primary goal of organizing this run is to educate, eliminate stigma, promote self-care, and provide support for mental health.
The Chairman of USAINS Holding Sdn Bhd, Datuk Hafsah Hashim, stated that through this charity run, USAINS is also collaborating with Minden 11800, a unique learning space and a cat sanctuary located within the main campus of Universiti Sains Malaysia (USM). This place offers a serene environment for students to reduce stress and focus on achieving a healthy mental balance. At Minden 11800, cat therapy serves as a crucial coping mechanism to help students manage stress and practice mental care,” she said, adding that part of the proceeds generated from the run will be donated back to the cat sanctuary.
She further emphasized that with over 25 years of experience in the industry, USAINS consistently provides comprehensive support to USM and is committed to fully supporting the university in every way possible. She said that they are thrilled with the strong support from registered participants, including staff, students, and the community, all coming together to support USAINS’ mission of raising awareness and educating the public about mental health awareness. The Group CEO of USAINS, Farid Wajidi, added, “We pledge to address stereotypes, combat discrimination, and cultivate an empathetic and supportive environment.
“This run also serves as an opportunity for participants to relax and restore their mental balance while enjoying the beauty of the Penang Hill view,” he said. USAINS Penang Hill Charity Run 2023 has received significant support from Berocca as the main sponsor. Other entities participating in this noble effort include the Malaysian Public Universities Holding Companies Council (MSIM), Silicon Island Development, YouTech Sdn. Bhd, Doupharma Biotech, Himalaya Sports, Leong Bee & Soo Bee Sdn. Bhd, and Penang Hill Corporation as the location sponsor for the run. This deep support reflects the shared commitment of USAINS and its industry partners towards a noble cause.
