SELANGOR, September 18 – Weststar Aviation Services (Weststar), the premier offshore helicopter transportation services provider in Southeast Asia, is charting a path to a more sustainable aviation future. In a groundbreaking partnership, Weststar has joined forces with Petronas Dagangan Berhad (PDB) to champion the utilization of Sustainable Aviation Fuel (SAF) in offshore helicopter operations throughout Malaysia. This momentous collaboration was unveiled on the inaugural day of the Selangor Aviation Show 2023, hosted at SkyPark RAC Selangor, affirming the shared commitment of both entities to environmentally conscious practices and sustainable aviation.
This cooperative effort underscores Weststar’s steadfast dedication to sustainability and eco-friendly aviation practices. Datuk Ts Wan Hasmar Azim Wan Hassan, CEO of Weststar Aviation Services, expressed his enthusiasm for the partnership, saying, “Weststar has always placed environmental responsibility at the forefront of our priorities. This collaboration with PDB perfectly aligns with our sustainability goals and reinforces our commitment to delivering the finest eco-conscious aviation services to our clients.”
He further emphasized, “The partnership between Weststar and PDB establishes a robust industry benchmark, underscoring the importance of sustainable practices and responsible fuel sourcing. Through our collective endeavors, we are charting a course toward a greener and more sustainable future for aviation.” The Sustainable Aviation Fuel utilized in this collaboration is supplied by PDB in collaboration with Neste, a global leader in SAF production. Weststar initiated this collaboration by signing a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with PDB during the recent LIMA exhibition held in March.
This partnership represents a significant step forward in driving sustainability within the aviation industry in Malaysia. By embracing SAF, Weststar Aviation Services and Petronas Dagangan Berhad are leading by example, demonstrating their commitment to reducing the aviation sector’s carbon footprint and fostering a greener, more environmentally responsible future for aviation in the region.
