KUALA LUMPUR, September 19 – In a world where inflation is affecting budgets, travelers are on the prowl for the best travel deals available. To aid these savvy bargain hunters, the digital travel platform Agoda is unveiling the most economical routes recently booked by Malaysian travelers in early August. With a multitude of flight options from Malaysia accessible through Agoda, travelers were thrilled to discover fares starting as low as RM 36. Malaysia secured the third position among ten Asia Pacific markets for the lowest domestic airfare. Sharing the top spot were Thailand and the Philippines, both offering domestic flights for RM 32 each.
On a regional scale, Malaysia proudly clinched the first place with a RM 48 flight to Singapore. For those with international wanderlust, the Kuala Lumpur – Sydney route emerged as the sixth cheapest flight from Malaysia in the intercontinental category, with bookings available at RM 804. However, it was Indian travelers who scored the most affordable intercontinental flight with a jaw-dropping RM 360 fare for the Delhi to Dubai route.
Cleland Robertson, Country Director for Malaysia & Brunei at Agoda, commented on these exciting finds, stating, “It’s great to see travelers finding such amazing flight deals on Agoda. These bargains show there are real deals to be found if you are prepared to be flexible with carrier, route, and timing. Pricing of course changes with demand, and we seek to get the best prices available for wherever you want to fly, be it domestic, regional, or across continents.” Here’s a closer look at the most affordable flights from Malaysia:
Domestic: Kota Bharu (KBR) -> Kuala Lumpur (KUL), RM 36
The least expensive domestic flight originating from Kota Bharu in the Kelantan state landed in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia’s capital. This 70-minute journey was booked earlier this month for a mere RM 36, firmly securing its place among the cheapest flights booked on Agoda.
Regional: Kuala Lumpur (KUL) -> Singapore (SIN), RM 48
For a mere RM 48, travelers embarked on a quick journey from Kuala Lumpur to neighboring Singapore. Singapore, known for its cleanliness, efficient public transportation, and numerous landmarks, is just a short 70-minute flight away.
Intercontinental: Kuala Lumpur (KUL) to Sydney (SYD), RM 804
From the iconic Opera House and Harbour Bridge to the Blue Mountains and Bondi Beach, many consider Sydney the ultimate Australian experience. Earlier this month, travelers booked an 8-hour flight from Kuala Lumpur to Sydney for a remarkable RM 804.
Agoda meticulously examined the total fare per passenger, inclusive of taxes and surcharges, across ten markets in the Asia Pacific region. These fares represent the lowest prices from actual bookings made on Agoda between August 1 and August 14, with travel scheduled for September and October this year. Agoda, initially renowned as an online booking platform for hotels and vacation homes, has seen its flight bookings soar since their introduction on the platform in 2019.
